~insert hyperventilation~
Yes, I am the world's biggest nerd. Thanks for asking. I know it's just one series in a plethora of titles. I know it doesn't seem like much but it's all about baby steps.

Baby steps. Yes. Baby stepping until we own every manga in the world!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What? Oh, never mind. Look over there! {run}
And now for the Mysteries of the Universe Revealed portion of this post. I was recently whining to another Library person about the fact that once all our new manga goes out on the shelves, it will go out on hold and never come back. :( But then she told me that PALS will send our stuff back to us first.

For any who don't know, PALS = Prairie Area Library System = the magic place all your mountain o' manga holds come from.
Astrophysics, it ain't, but PALS does have some interesting rules and one of them goes something like "if it belongs to thine library, ye be the first to get it on hold". So even if 50 people from other libraries have holds on our items, it will always go to our patrons first. Isn't that cool?! The only thing that would make it better would be if ALL holds came to us first! ;p Oh well. Let's not be too greedy. More later. TTFN

PICTURES! Permission Slips, and "The Food Situation"

Alright! As promised~ the pictures from our cosplay costume workshop! "Finally," you are all thinking!

We surfed a bit to find costume ideas, debated the pros and cons of some characters over others... (Yeah, Inuyasha is awesome and the costume would be fairly easy to accomplish, but barefoot in the winter? Not so awesome. Can you say "frostbite"?)
We also decided that laying on top of fabric and tracing around someone a perfectly acceptable way to make a pattern. I didn't get a picture of the finished product, but it looked as though it had been purchased in a store run by industrius, albeit slightly sinister, fae folk!
I can't remember the name of the green character, but we compared the outfit seen here to an actual picture and it was a dead ringer, right down to the blanket-cape! Great job, everyone. We'll be the talk of the Teen AnimeFest (and not because we have food on our faces!)
That reminds me! This Sunday is Teen AnimeFest! If you don't have your permission slips in by Friday, 10/16, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE BUS!!! I might make exceptions if there are extenuating circumstances, but I might not. If you need a permission slip, they are at the Reference Desk at Musser Library, you can get one from Mrs. Wilford at MSH, or you can download/print one from the Teen Area at www.musserpubliclibrary.org. Coo? Coo.
I don't know what the food situation will be when we get there so eat something before we leave or bring something with you. You can leave stuff on the bus if you need to. I think that's all that the Hamster in the Squeaky Wheel wants me to tell you guys so...TTFN

Saturday's Costume Workshop

We had so much fun! Some people sewed, some worked on AnimeFest costumes, and everybody ate candy! I'll have the pictures up soon...
And in other late breaking great news, Katy is going to Teen AnimeFest with us on Sunday Oct. 18! Don't know Katy by name? Well she's blond and has blue eyes and works at the Circulation Desk. She's probably checked in your mountain o'manga before.(Those who leave a mountian o'manga know who you are ;} ) The Figge AnimeFest is coming up quick. Like, less than two weeks, quick! I still don't know who I'm going as; I'm taking suggestions.
We have another Halloween Costume Workshop this Saturday, Oct 10 from 11-1:30pm, so if you need to work on your cosplay costumes, come on down. I think Katy might dress up too, but don't quote me on that. Maybe if she was asked really sweetly.......
More later.

New stuff en route!

So I visited the Iowa City Public Library recently and after drooling (:P) over all of their rows and rows of manga, I started thinking..."Hmmm..." I said to myself, "Tech Services just ordered a bunch of stuff for our manga collection! That means...(hamster running in a squeeky wheel)...we'll have new titles soon!!!" The order is manga as well as anime so keep your eyes and ears peeled for new stuff coming to a shelf near you. Remember it takes a lot to get a book ready for check out so be patient. It will be worth it, believe me!
